A clear building with two intimate venues
In September 2010, Queen Beatrix opened the new Schouwburg Amphion. This theatre has excellent logistics for public, artists and staff streams. The loading area (3 trucks) is centrally positioned between the two auditoria, serving both on the same floor level. The classical large auditorium with proscenium arch is particularly intimate, even with the number of seats it houses and the small auditorium is an improved copy of its successful predecessor. The thrust stage layout of the moveable seating system allows for direct contact between actor and audience. Both venues have natural daylight on stage, which easily can be darkened for a performance.
